Several functions of engine oil
1. Lubrication: The oil enters between metal and metal to prevent direct contact, thereby reducing friction. While preventing wear, it also plays a role in smooth movement.
2. Anti-corrosion: The oil forms a thin film on the metal surface to prevent corrosion and rust caused by corrosive gases and moisture.
3. Cooling: The oil absorbs and transfers the heat generated inside the engine to prevent the engine from overheating.
4. Sealing: The oil enters between the cylinder wall and the piston to prevent gas leakage and reduce the explosion pressure of the combustion chamber, thus playing a sealing role.
5. Cleaning: The oil can remove dirt such as grinding chips and gas accumulated inside the engine and disperse it in the oil, thereby keeping all parts of the engine clean.
The dangers of not changing the engine oil in time
1. Wear and tear: wear of cylinder liner leads to increased oil consumption;
2. Increased wear of crankshaft bearings and valve mechanism;
3. Carbon deposits: piston ring adhesion will cause poor piston operation, resulting in reduced engine power, and sintering in severe cases;
4. Corrosion is likely to occur.
Daily inspection and maintenance of chassis
1. Check the oil level:
The oil level should be checked at least 5 minutes after the diesel engine is stopped, and the oil level should be between the upper and lower limits of the dipstick.
2. Check the coolant level:
Especially during winter construction, check whether the antifreeze is sufficient and whether the model used is suitable for the lowest temperature of the local climate to prevent freezing of the water tank.
3. Check whether the air filter is blocked and clean it every day.
4. Engine oil filling amount (depending on the different models of engines, the amount of oil added is different)
FM12: 33 liters
FM9: 28 liters
4. Engine oil standard: VDS-2 or VDS-3
Shell VG150 oil is recommended
5. Engine oil change cycle:
D12D engine, 22,500 kilometers or 10,000 liters of oil, but no more than 3 months.
D9A engine, 20,000 kilometers or 7,000 liters of oil, but no more than 3 months.
Steps to change engine oil
1. Check the engine oil on a flat road with the engine stopped. If the vehicle is tilted or the engine is running, the oil level measurement will be inaccurate;
2. When opening the fuel cap, in order to avoid foreign matter from mixing in, the fuel inlet and the area around the fuel cap should be cleaned first;
3. When the engine oil is completely drained, all the following drain plugs must be opened. (Oil pan, main oil filter, split filter, oil radiator, etc.);
4. Replacing the engine oil when the engine is stopped but still hot can shorten the replacement time, but the oil temperature is still high, so be careful when operating.
Note: Do not mix different types of engine oil.
The role of cooling and antifreeze
1. Cooling effect: Cool the engine to prevent it from overheating;
2. Antifreeze protection: Water freezes at 0℃, which will cause the radiator and engine water jacket to rupture, so antifreeze is needed;
3. Anti-corrosion effect: Different types of metals are used in the cooling system, and antifreeze can prevent high temperature, corrosive gases, etc. from oxidizing and corroding the metal;
4. Increase the boiling point.
Note: Use Mobil or Shell No. 45 antifreeze as cooling and antifreeze, do not add water.
The dangers of not replacing antifreeze in time
1. Causes radiator blockage;
2. Engine overheating;
3. Various rubber products are prone to aging;
4. Water pump leaks;
5. Mixed into engine oil, causing engine sintering;
6. Poor heater effect.
Note:
1. After replacing the gear oil, start the engine and let it idle for 5 minutes, so that the oil can be forced to circulate in the filter and oil pipeline.
2. After the engine stops running for 5 minutes, check whether the gear oil level is appropriate, otherwise add it to the specified oil level.
3. When replacing the gear oil, pay attention to whether there are heavy metal chips and other foreign matter in the old oil.
